From a Solo Trip at 13 to Annapurna Base Camp at 24 - Aayushi Journey of Choosing Strength Over Comfort

Adventure doesn't always begin with a grand expedition.

Sometimes, it begins with a small decision.

For Aayushi, that decision came when she was just 13-14 years old.

As a child, she describes herself as shy and reserved. Meeting new people and stepping outside her comfort zone didn't come naturally to her.

Then came an opportunity to join a small trip to Dandeli.

She registered.

And surprisingly, she went alone.

That one decision would eventually change the way she saw travel, people and herself.

One Solo Trip Changed Everything

The Dandeli trip introduced Aayushi to something she hadn't experienced before - the freedom of travelling without already knowing everyone around her.

She met new people.

She made friends.

And most importantly, she discovered a version of herself that was more confident and open.

What began as a simple trip slowly became something much deeper.

She fell in love with meeting people, discovering new places and experiencing nature.

Over time, travelling evolved into adventure.

And eventually, that love for exploration led her towards one of the most significant journeys of her life - Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal.

A Dream That Took Almost Two Years

Interestingly, Aayushi's Annapurna journey began long before she reached Nepal.

A friend once asked whether she wanted to join an Annapurna trek.

She had only around five days to make the decision.

Unfortunately, she couldn't go.

But the idea stayed with her.

That conversation introduced her to Annapurna and Nepal. Instead of simply forgetting about the opportunity, she started researching.

She learned about the trek.

She explored what it would take to complete it.

And she began imagining herself there.

For almost two years, Annapurna remained a dream.

Eventually, she reached a point where she decided that dreaming about it wasn't enough.

She had to make it happen.

And she did.

The Challenge of Finding Food on the Trail

Every adventure comes with its own challenges.

For Aayushi, one of the biggest challenges during the Annapurna trek was food.

She follows a Jain diet, and finding suitable Jain food during a remote 10-day trek in Nepal was extremely difficult.

Instead of allowing that obstacle to stop her, she prepared for it.

She carried approximately 10 days' worth of food with her throughout the trek.

And she carried it herself.

No porter.

No guide.

It wasn't easy, but the preparation gave her a way forward.

The experience reinforced something she strongly believes:

When you genuinely want something, you find a way to make it work.

Eight Days to Annapurna Base Camp

Completing the Annapurna Base Camp trek in eight days became one of Aayushi's proudest achievements.

But the destination wasn't the only thing that made the journey special.

She had planned the trek around her 24th birthday.

Her goal was to reach Annapurna Base Camp and experience the Himalayan sunrise on her birthday.

It was a very personal dream - something she had planned herself and worked towards for almost two years.

When that plan finally became reality, the feeling was incredibly special.

She had taken an idea that existed only in her imagination and turned it into an experience she would remember for the rest of her life.

The Journey to Nepal Was an Adventure Too

The adventure wasn't limited to the mountains.

Aayushi travelled from India to Nepal using trains and buses instead of flying.

Partly, it helped her save money.

But it also made the journey itself more memorable.

For her, adventure wasn't necessarily about spending more or taking the easiest route.

It was about experiencing the journey along the way.

And Nepal offered plenty of experiences beyond Annapurna.

One of them was a bungee jump at Kushma, from one of the world's highest bungee jumping points.

Another reminder that adventure often begins where comfort ends.

When Fear Meets Determination

One of the most unforgettable moments came during the second-last day of the Annapurna trek.

The route from Deurali towards Machapuchare Base Camp and then Annapurna Base Camp became extremely challenging.

It was snowing heavily.

Visibility was very low.

The trail was covered in snow.

At some points, Aayushi could barely see the two people walking ahead of her.

It was thrilling.

It was adventurous.

And it was scary.

Her friends even asked her:

“How are you so calm? Aren't you scared?”

The truth was, she was scared.

But something was stronger than the fear - her determination to keep moving.

She knew what waited at the end of the trail.

She knew how long she had dreamed about reaching Annapurna.

And she knew exactly why she was there.

So she kept taking the next step.

What Annapurna Taught Her

The experience gave Aayushi a lesson that extends far beyond trekking.

Courage doesn't mean you aren't afraid.

Sometimes, courage simply means continuing even when you are.

The snow, the uncertainty and the difficult trail could have easily become reasons to turn back.

Instead, they became part of the story.

And eventually, she reached the place she had imagined for almost two years - Annapurna Base Camp, on her 24th birthday.

Choosing Strength Over Comfort

When asked what adventure means to her in one sentence, Aayushi's answer was simple:

“For me, adventure is choosing strength over comfort.”

That sentence captures her journey remarkably well.

From a shy 13-year-old taking her first solo trip...

Travelling across borders by train and bus...

To carry her own food through the Himalayas...

To complete Annapurna Base Camp in eight days...

To push through fear in heavy snowfall...

Her journey has consistently been about stepping beyond what feels comfortable.

A Message to Women Who Want to Explore

Aayushi hopes her journey encourages more women to step outside their comfort zones and experience the world for themselves.

Whether it's a trek, a trip or simply exploring somewhere new, the first step doesn't have to be perfect.

You can start by asking questions.

You can meet new people.

You can plan.

You can prepare.

And eventually, you can take that first step.

There is so much to see, experience and learn from this beautiful planet.

For Aayushi, this is only the beginning.

And perhaps that's the most exciting part.

The next adventure is still waiting.
